Announcing Your Newsletter

Building a database of subscribers is generally accomplished in two broad phases.

In the initial phase you announce your newsletter using lists and directories. This will net you a fair amount of new subscribers in the beginning, and may even generate a slow, but steady stream of subscribers.

However, it's important to employ other strategies on a continuing basis for long-term success. Promoting your newsletter to gain a steady inflow of subscribers is covered a little later on.

Announcement Directories
These sites allow you to announce and/or list your ezine in their respective directory. To find more directories use your favorite engine and search using phrases such as "ezine directory" or "newsletter directory".

Announcement Lists
Subscribers to announcement lists are interested in hearing about new lists. To post an announcement about your ezine on any of the lists below you must first be a subscriber.

Sending an email to any of the email addresses in the list below makes you a new subscriber, so be sure to use an email address where you want to receive numerous emails.

If you'd like to learn more about any of these lists, go to http://groups.yahoo.com and http://lists.topica.com/ and use the search function to view the policies for each. For example, to search for the second group in the list below, you would type in "Announce_It_Write", without the quotation marks. Be sure to use the underscore or hyphen as indicated for each.
