Essentially, the theme of Make Your Site Sell is increasing sales from your web site. I was a bit skeptical when I first read some of Ken's advice. For instance, his application and usage of Meta Tags was totally foreign to everything I had previously been taught. But, since I had never achieved a first page hit on any of the search engines, I really didn't have anything to lose. To test his approach I rebuilt a page on my site that discussed the legitimacy of envelope stuffing offers. I was practically floored when that page jumped to the #10 spot on AltaVista. Needless to say, I became quite interested in learning more about Ken's methods. The adrenaline was flowing as I envisioned a complete rebuild of my site. Ken uses real world examples from his own marketing experiences to back up his techniques. He thoroughly covers the nuts and bolts of : (1) designing an attention-grabbing opening page, (2) the use of pathway pages to sell the product, and (3) how to design a closer page to get the Most Wanted Response from the visitor, i.e. the sale. What kind of results have I had since redesigning my
site? Well, the changes have been positive. Very positive. When I first started
implementing the recommended design changes, my conversion rate (subscribers/buyers
divided by visitors) for the entire site jumped 2 percentage points. Now that may not
sound like much, but considering that's an extra 2 hits for every 100 visitors... it adds
up quick. Since my investment to obtain these 2 percentage points cost less than the price
of a movie and popcorn for two, I figure it was a pretty good investment. Ya gotta like that. Ken points out that at best only 1 out of 100 sites make
money, and his goal with Make Your Site Sell is to
keep you out of that "99" club. He is so sure he can keep you out of that club,
that he offers a lifetime money-back guarantee. How's that for determination! Well, I
won't be needing that guarantee. You shouldn't either.
