Review: Activ E-Book Compiler
E-Book Creation Software
http://www.ebookcompiler.com

Producing an attractive, functional, and informative eBook is a terrific way to market any business. And there are several great programs out there that do a whiz bang job of creating great looking eBooks. But now there's a new kid on the block.

Activ E-Book Compiler is an emerging competitor to some of the more established eBook creation programs, and it seems to be getting some recognition around the Web. So, I decided I'd see what all the hoopla was about. Besides, I'm still hot on the idea of making a cool million with a best selling eBook. Gotta stay up to speed on the available software - know what I mean?

You've undoubtedly heard about Stephen King grossing over $400,000 shortly after his first eBook release. Astounding results to say the least. Speaking as a writer, all that money Mr. King made on just one eBook makes me feel somewhat insignificant. Nevertheless, I must admit to a bit more enthusiasm in my writing these days. Hey, I can dream right?

First things first...

I have a natural tendency to evaluate a product based on its price. If it carries a high price tag, I tend to use that price as a ruler in evaluating whether or not the product can perform up to that price. If it carries a low price tag, I tend to look for its shortcomings.

I must admit that Activ E-Book Compiler had me looking on the 'short' side. That was my mindset. The software is quite inexpensive at just $29.95. Could it perform at a professional level with the big boys?

To answer that involves looking at the two versions of the software: unregistered or registered. You can download the unregistered version for free without any obligation. Not a bad thing of course. Free downloads are a great way to test drive a product. The unregistered version is fully functioning, but has a few limitations. Here are the differences...

 Sell your E-Books

As you can see above, registering the software entitles you to a few extra perks. Most importantly: the ability to sell your books, restricting a user from printing your eBook, and unlimited book size.

What about that 'automatically added' cover page?

All right, you forced me to tell you. Activ E-Book Compiler puts their own little advertisement on the cover page of the unregistered eBook. Hey, who can blame them? A small homage to the creator isn't asking too much is it? Registering the software gets rid of the advertisement.

Is the software easy to use? In a word: Very. Actually, you don't even need HTML knowledge to use it. By building your content in programs such as Word you can save your files as HTML, and then just run the program to create the book. The tool bar is pretty straight forward as it makes operations such as saving and viewing your book a snap. What I appreciated most was the comprehensive help section that used language anyone can understand. They realize that most people are not tech nerds. That's a good thing. I just hate being stumped.

All in all, I have to credit this software with providing benefits far exceeding its price tag. Plus they throw in some enticing profit tools and bonuses with the registered version.

As a side note...  Tucows.com recently awarded Activ E-Book Compiler a 4 cow rating. Definitely a top of the heap rating.

So my bottom line is...

It's a great deal. This is excellent software (even those without web building experience can use it), it's packed full of the same features that others will charge you up to $100 to get, and best of all...

... it's a free download. Click here to give it a try.
