If you find yourself in a rut and haven't really hit on a business you think you'd like, I've got a few ideas for you. These ideas are universal in that just about anybody can make them into a business. Plus, these are real business models you can feel good about... legitimate businesses that provide real benefits to real people.

1. Be a Freelancer

Everyone has talents. What are yours? Lots of companies and individuals are looking for talented people with certain skills to do a certain job.

A freelancer is paid by the job and works independently. You are not working from home as a employee (see this article for information on telecommuting), rather you are agreeing to perform a project that pays you when completed.

There are several really good websites that connect freelancers with companies needing professional services. Three of the best are eLance, All Freelance Work, and Freelance Work Exchange.

2. Write an eBook

Think your skills aren't marketable? Think again. The Internet is an information Mecca, and one of the primary reasons people log on is to search for information on a specific topic.

What subject are you intimately familiar with? Writing an eBook could be just your thing if you're the "how-to" guru on a subject. And unless you've been living in a cave all your life, all of us are an expert at something.

"How-to" eBooks are big sellers are the Internet. And people are willing to pay for information rather than go to a public library or search endlessly for it at free sites.

So what do you know? Do you know the secret to staying thin? Do you love to cook and have some really great recipes? Do you know the secret to buying a used car? Do you know how to create a unique, money-making craft? Do you know how to catch the biggest fish in the lake?

Writing an eBook is not like writing a novel. People who pay for information don't want a story, they want hard-hitting, got-to-know-now, facts. You don't need 300 pages to get out the facts. 3. Buy Wholesale - Sell Retail

Do you like flea markets? I know I do. Do you love to browse the tables at fairs and craft shows? That's me for sure.

You can sell some really cool stuff... get it at a great price, and sell it for a nice little profit!

Better yet, you can actually set up your own online store and sell wholesale products that another company (called a dropshipper) will mail directly to your customer. You don't have to stock anything!

It's a great setup and a nice way to start your own home-based business.

4. Be An eBayer!

Did you know there are people who make a living just selling on eBay? In fact, there's a fellow in Ohio who makes enough to travel the world in search of unique items. He brings back his treasures and sells them for huge profits on eBay. How cool!

5. Collect Commissions With Affiliate Programs

This is the route many new entrepreneurs take when searching for online profits. There problem is, many folks just don't have a clue what they're doing.

Selling products and services for other companies (affiliate sales) should be treated like a business. It's not as simple as just getting a website and putting up some links. If you treat it like a business, then you can reap some fantastic commissions... on the order of hundreds or even thousands of dollars each month.
